Tesla’s diner launch recently had everyone buzzing about fries and burgers, but BYD has taken an entirely different direction.
I recently attended the official opening of BYD’s New Dining Concept Hub at Waterway Point in Punggol. Marking their fourth dining outlet in Singapore, this café is built around artisan drinks, featuring an in-house coffee roastery alongside a tempting selection of pastries and cakes.
Having previously enjoyed dining at BYD’s other locations, which typically include full-fledged bars and extensive meal options, this outlet offers a simpler fare of light bites. That said, it’s still a delightful spot to relax over coffee and snacks.
An interesting highlight is that you can arrange test drives here while sipping your drink. However, the café itself is rather compact, with three display cars currently occupying significant space. I’m not sure if this is temporary or part of a longer-term strategy, though it wouldn’t surprise me if the cars remained—particularly if BYD intends this location to double as a test-drive center. It certainly provides an appealing “show-and-tell” aspect.
The food menu might be limited to cakes and pastries, but the café makes up for it with a great selection of artisanal coffees, teas, and specialty drinks.
Overall, it’s worth dropping by if you’re nearby, though perhaps not worth a dedicated trip.
