1. Why Does My Sunshade Keep Closing?
The panoramic sunshade is one of the standout features in the Sealion 7. But if you’ve noticed it mysteriously closing every time you lock your car—here’s why.
The sunshade is treated like a window in the vehicle’s system. So, when “Close windows when locking” is enabled, the sunshade closes too.
Fix:
Go to your vehicle settings and disable this option. Just note that this will also stop your side windows from closing automatically when you lock the car.
2. How to Use ACC Without Being Forced Into ICC
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is great, but you may find that you can’t activate it without enabling Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) first.
Workaround:
Activate ICC once, then turn it off. ACC can now be used independently from that point on.
You can also disable ICC completely in the settings. Once it’s off, the cruise control button becomes dedicated to ACC.
Bonus Tip:
- A single tap on the cruise lever adjusts speed by 5 km/h.
- Hold it down to fine-tune by 1 km/h increments.
3. AC Controls Blocked by 360° Camera? Use This Hack
When the 360° video feed pops up—like when shifting into Drive—the screen becomes unresponsive. Want to adjust the aircon? Too bad… unless you use voice commands.
Try these commands:
- “Hi BYD, I’m hot” → lowers temp by 1°C
- “Hi BYD, I’m very cold” → increases temp by 3°C
- “Hi BYD, increase fan speed” → self-explanatory
Bonus: The ambient lights turn blue when the cabin is cooler, and red when warmer.
4. Don’t Worry About Driving Off While Plugged In
The Sealion 7 has a built-in safety feature: when it’s charging, the steering locks and gears can’t be engaged. So you physically can’t drive off with the charger connected.
What if the charging gun is stuck?
There’s a manual release latch located in the trunk. Pull it, and the charger unlocks.
5. Yes, There’s an Emergency Trunk Release
If someone (hopefully not you!) ever gets stuck in the trunk, there’s a safety release.
Look for a small panel in the trunk, open it, and pull the internal cable. The trunk will pop open.
6. Set Your Own Wallpaper (It’s Easy)
Customizing your dashboard look is easier than you think.
Steps:
- Save your preferred image to a USB stick
- Plug it into any USB port in the car
- Open the Album app
- Find your image
- Tap Set as Wallpaper
Done!
7. What to Do If the Door Handles Retract
You unlock the car, grab something inside, walk away… then come back and the door handles are gone. What now?
Here’s how to pop them out:
- Press the small button on the driver’s side door
- Or gently push the handle inward at an angle, then pull it out
If your key is nearby, pressing the button might lock the car—so use the second method if unsure.
8. Rear Seatbelt Buckles Keep Disappearing?
A surprisingly common issue: the rear seatbelt buckles sometimes slip down into the seat gap.
Quick Fix:
- Find the elastic loop next to the buckle
- Thread the buckle through the loop to keep it upright
Extra Safety Tip:
The ambient light beside the door will blink red if a seatbelt isn’t fastened properly.
